Arc Exposure Brings to Light Welding Processes and Opportunities for High School Students

The Butte College Welding Department is gearing up for its annual Arc Exposure 2024, scheduled for January 16 to 19 at Butte College's award-winning Welding and Manufacturing Facility. This four-day event provides invaluable professional training for high school students and instructors from throughout the state, offering a comprehensive exploration of various welding techniques and career opportunities.

The event will feature two distinct training sessions, each designed to immerse high school students in the intricacies of gas metal arc welding, fluxedcored arc welding, gas tungsten arc welding, oxyfuel cutting, and hard-facing. In addition to these hands-on training sessions, local industry tours are planned to showcase the job prospects within the welding industry.

One notable aspect of the event is the concurrent training for high school instructors. This initiative aims to foster connections with industry experts and enhance the skills of educators, ensuring they are well-equipped to guide and mentor their students effectively.

Each session will host around 90 high school students and up to 24 instructors, drawing participants from schools across California.
