Butte College Agriculture, Environmental Horticulture and Welding Departments hosted 1,771 FFA students from 155 schools from California, Oregon, and Washington in 23 contests, scoring and tabulating 14,239 materials in 7 hours.
The Butte College Welding program hosted 79 students from 23 schools, completing a written test, welding applications, weld testing, and job portfolio.
Heavy Equipment and Ag students organized the Farm Power contest, consisting of general knowledge, parts and tool identification, troubleshooting, and tractor operation and safety tests. A total of 95 students from 28 schools participated. After the contest, students provided the visitors an opportunity to operate simulators and equipment, a unique feature of Field Day.
The Environmental Horticulture program presented contests in floriculture, with judging, plant ID, construction, and reasons, and nursery and landscape, with trees, shrubs, flats, transplant, plant ID, written test, and reasons. A total of 134 students from 38 schools participated.
